Acorn TV acquires scripted package for international markets

ABC Commercial has announced it has reached an additional distribution agreement with North America’s largest streaming service specialising in international television, Acorn TV, for a raft of ABC content for their platforms in the US, UK, Canada, LATAM as well as Australia and New Zealand.

The agreement lists some of the best of Australia’s locally produced titles including the laugh-out-loud survival guide for the modern woman Growing Up Gracefully (Giant Dwarf Productions), three series of the much-loved family comedy Upper Middle Bogan (Gristmill Productions), the hilarious Very Small Business (Gristmill Productions), sexy legal drama Newton’s Law (Every Cloud Productions) and the irresistible drama East of Everything S1 & S2 (Twenty20 Productions).

“ABC Commercial has been an ongoing partner of Acorn TV from their international launch in 2018” said Jessica Ellis, Head of Content Sales and Distribution, ABC Commercial. “ABC Commercial has a strong slate of content that continues to entertain and delight Acorn’s core audience, so we are extremely happy to build on our partnership and see more of the ABC’s world-class list of content on the Acorn TV platform.”

Completing the list of great content in the deal is the taut crime drama The Silence (Jan Chapman Productions) starring Richard Roxburgh (Moulin Rouge, Van Helsing, Mission Impossible II) and Essie Davis (Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, Girl with a Pearl Earring, Charlotte’s Web). The Silence was directed by Cate Shortland (The Secret Life of Us, Somersault) and produced by Jan Chapman (The Piano, Lantana, Somersault).

All ABC content in this agreement will be available to stream over the next few months.
