About

A STUNNING EVOCATION OF A GLADIATOR-SLAVE’S REBELLION AGAINST OPPRESSION, A STORY THAT HAS RESONATED THROUGH THE AGES

One of The Australian Ballet’s most popular works springs to new life. Spartacus tells the story of a gladiator who led a slaves’ rebellion against the Roman Empire. Charting the journey of a man finding passionate love, his life’s mission and his freedom, this rousing production of Spartacus is a powerful and profound experience.

A passion project for choreographer Lucas Jervies, NIDAtrained director and a former dancer of The Australian Ballet, the performance showcases the company’s men at their spirited and athletic best. Features the soaring music of Aram Khachaturian, as well as sets and costumes by Jérôme Kaplan (creator of the inventive designs for Alexei Ratmansky’s Cinderella).
