In August 1974, Lou Reed arrived in Sydney, Australia, at the start of a tour of the country.
The ABC has an extensive and eclectic Music Collection. There are video recordings of some of the greats of classical music, orchestras, big bands, jazz, country, pop, hip hop and of course, rock 'n' roll.
Rare material from the legendary Led Zeppelin sits close by early classical gems from Daniel Barenboim and Yehudi Menuhin. There are archival clips of the Beatles, the Bee Gees and the driving rock of AC/DC and Powderfinger.
There are over a 1000 "Get To Know" (GTK) video clips, many of which have not been seen since being played on this groundbreaking music show of the 60s and 70s. And if it's lurex and mullets you're looking for, the ABC's 80s collection is bigger than Dolly Parton's hair.
We are also home to the Countdown collection, with all those live performances, interviews, video clips, along with out-takes and the odd controversial appearance eg. Iggy Pop (not to be missed).
