ABC TV today announced it has received a record-setting 33 nominations at this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards, with the majority of nominated talent and programs being proudly supported and distributed by ABC Commercial’s Video Entertainment & Distribution division.

Celebrated Australian actress Essie Davis (The Babadook) received three nominations, including Best Actress, Most Outstanding Actress and a nod for the coveted Gold Logie for Best Personality on Australian Television for her performance in the smash-hit Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. Davis leads a group of ABC TV nominees that includes Sarah Snook (The Beautiful Lie), Tim Minchin (The Secret River) and Deborah Mailman (Redfern Now: Promise Me).

Critically acclaimed dramas The Beautiful Lie and The Secret River will also compete against one another in the Most Outstanding Miniseries or Telemovie category, with Shaun Micallef’s Mad As Hell honoured with a nomination for Most Outstanding Comedy Program.

Award winning investigative journalist Sarah Ferguson’s hard-hitting exposé on the turbulent Rudd-Gillard years of government, The Killing Season, also received a nomination for Most Outstanding Public Affairs Report, while ABC3 series Ready For This, Bushwhacked! and Little Lunch will vie for the honour of Most Outstanding Children’s Program.

"Our TV and News teams are thrilled by this record haul of nominations, across so many genres and demographics,” said Richard Finlayson, ABC Director of Television. “We’re committed to being the home of Australian stories and I want to congratulate all our staff and the brilliant actors and production partners who bring ABC TV to life.”
