ABC Commercial reaches agreement with Discovery to bring The Royals on Tour to New Zealand



ABC Commercial today announced it has reached a new agreement with Discovery to bring the acclaimed new factual entertainment series The Royals on Tour to Pay TV audiences in New Zealand.

The new license agreement will see The Royals on Tour (2 x 60’) air exclusively on Living Channel (Channel 017) on New Zealand’s Sky TV subscription TV network later this year, with broadcast details soon to follow.

The new deal caps a flurry of recent sales activity for ABC Commercial in New Zealand over the last six months, with new agreements now in place with TVNZ, Sky NZ and Top TV for a raft of new release ABC content, including several series and specials from The Wiggles, David Attenborough’s Tasmania, The Cult of the Family and Restoration Australia (also airing on Living Channel), among other new release titles.

A revealing two-part television special that examines the relationship between the Royals and the people of the Commonwealth, as seen through the lens of major historical and political turning points and more than half a century of historical footage, The Royals on Tour features never-before-filmed letters written by the Royal Family, and revelatory interviews with historians, insiders and notable personalities.

Narrated by award-winning Australian actors Claudia Karvan (Newton’s Law) and Richard Roxburgh (Rake), the series explores the enduring and often complex relationship between the Crown and its people and studies the Royal’s lasting impact on Western society over the last century – in addition to looking at the influence of the modern Royals on the world today.
