ABC Commercial’s critically acclaimed documentary series, Hitting Home (2 x 55’ HD) has sold to TVN Style ahead of its launch at MIPTV, in a deal that also includes the observational documentary Kids on Speed? (3 x 55’ HD).

Hitting Home has also been selected by realscreen magazine’s editorial team for their annual MIPTV Picks feature.

Hitting Home focuses on the universal issue of domestic violence. Filmed over six months, the series follows award-winning journalist Sarah Ferguson as she gains unprecedented access to forensic doctors, specialist police officers, prisons, and courts in search of answers to important questions about domestic violence. How does it begin and escalate from control to violence or death? Why do the perpetrators do it, and why do their victims stay?

The series aired on Australia’s ABC on 24-25 November 2015, to an overwhelming audience response. With strong ratings and high social media activity, the program generated an extraordinary amount of coverage in the press, significantly contributing to the wider national debate on the issue. The Age newspaper described it as an “eye-opening and devastating investigation…that should shake everyone into action”.

“We’re thrilled to be launching this significant and globally relevant documentary at MIPTV. The sale to TVN Style is proof that this important in-depth investigation into domestic violence will resonate widely around the world.” said Tony Iffland, General Manager, Content Sales for ABC Commercial.

Hitting Home is produced by In Films, and distributed internationally by ABC Commercial.
