About

WHAT TURNED THESE WOMEN INTO COLD-BLOODED KILLERS?

In 1953, Sydney detectives investigated a string of cases so diabolical they created a wave of public outrage – women were adding rat poison to their baked good and feeding them to unsuspecting loved ones. Unlike popular images of domestic bliss, Sydney was a melting pot of violence, poverty and tension between the sexes during the 1950’s – but there was a way out. Recipe for Murder tells the story of three of these notorious killers: Yvonne Fletcher, Caroline Grills and Veronica Monty.

Based on actual courtroom transcripts and newspapers of the time, the program combines gritty archival material with stunning film noir re-enactments and interviews with witnesses, to dramatically reveal the unique ingredients that created a recipe for murder.
